Today, Tuesday the 6th we started at San Miguel island. It was blowing about 25 kts and was unfishable. We worked down towards santa rosa and found less wind and friendlier conditions. The fishing was a little slow for a while but we managed limits of quality rockfish. Yesterday I had some computer difficulty and wasn't able to send out a report. I'll give a quick overview of the day. The weather was great and the fishing followed suite. The end of the day braught anoyher nice halibut of 28lbs.

Hello from the channel islands. Today, Monday the 5th , we fished the north side of Santa Rosa again. The seabass still haven't cooperated so we're still falling back on superb shallow water rockfishing. We caught a little more squid and produced easy limits of good quality reds and chucks. Again we finnished the day with a halibut dtift and picked up a 28lb flat. We're out again tonight so we'll have a report tomorrow. We have one last open party trip which departs on Wednesday night. This is a Berkley /Fishrap sponsored trip and there will be product give aways. Call Sea Landing for reservations at (805) 568-0460.

Today,Sunday the 4th, we started our trip by idling up the coast to get a good angle to make the run across the channel to Santa Rosa Island. After a choppy crossing, we looked around the north side for signs of squid or seabass. We found a small amount of squid and were able to jig enough to fish with. After a couple of moves and a couple of hours trying for seabass we slid out to some hard bottom spots in relatively shallow water. The big reds, chucks and lings bit very well. After two hours we had limits of excellent quality rockfish and 24 lings for 22 people. We checked out some real shallow spots for bass and sheepshead for one bass and a few nice sheepies. The day was topped off with a halibut drift which produced a 24.7lb halibut. Another nice day at the Channel Islands. The weather looks good for tomorrow. Look for another report tomorrow evening. Tight lines, J.J.

Ok Today the weather guy was closer to beeing right. we rode up the coast and fished the augestine high spots. The fishing was good but the quality was only medium. We had limits of rockfish for 22 anglers. Our charter group had a great time and were happy with the outcome. I think we'll be able to make the Islands tomorrow. The conditions there looked good on Friday so maybe we'll get a shot at some gamefish in the morning. We'll report again tomorrow, J.J.

today friday the 2md of may we had excellant fishing on the north side of santa rosa island. the weather man was wrong yet again. after carefull examination of the several weather websites we utilize, we determined that a run to santa rosa would be feasable. we ended up having spectacular weather to go along with our limits of rock fish. all of our rock fish were good grade the majority of which were reds. after we limited out on rock fish we went into the shallows where we picked of a few nice lings, white fish, and sheapshead. we ended our day making a halibut drift, scoring a really nice flatty before heading home across the calm channel.

Today was yet another great weather day. The weather guy is starting to falter. We fished miguel today and had a great day in the shallows throwing plastics for nice reds chucks and lings. We topped off the day with a halibut drift and scored a 38lb flattie. Overall good fun and lots of sunburn

So far it's been a good weekend. We fished on friday and had good weather and good rockfishing. The quality was good and we were able to fish the shallows. Today the weather cooperated again. We made a little bit of squid and tried for seabass. No joy on the seabass but we had good fishing in the deeps on the south side of Rosa. Hopefully we will make more squid tonight and try the seabass again tomorrow.

Well we are now running our spring channel island trips out of beautiful Santa Barbara. Our first trip this weekend returned on Saturday evening. We looked for squid in several different areas, finding just a little sign but not enough to catch. Later we tried fishing in bechers bay for seabass or halibut for a short time but after 20 minutes standing at the rail in the cold with no biters, the bite in the galley proved far more successful. We made our way around the north side of Santa Rosa Isl. for the day of rock fishing. The rock fishing turned out to be slower than I would have anticipated after the closure. None the less we were able to produce limits of good quality.
