04-19-2009 Hi friends,
We missed a few reports but the overall story has been very good rockfishing with no sign of exotics yet. This weekend we started with a Shimano jigging trip. Justin Poe from Shimano came out with us and brought with him dozens of new Shimano outfits designed for fishing lucanus and butterfly jigs. we fished Santa Rosa island and had a blast jig fishing in the shallows and easily picked up limits of good quality rockfish. the next two days we fished San Miguel island for great results. See you next weekend. J.J.

04-04-2009 Saturday we ran up the coast dodging the weather. By daylight the wind had dropped enough to shoot across to San Miguel island. The red fishing was excellent. we had boat limits easily and tried for halibut for a while. No joy on the butts but a great day at the island. J.J.

03-14-2009 hey gang,
We just returned to the landing here in Santa Barbara, after two days fishing at the channel islands. On Friday we had nice weather and fun fishing with the good folks from Shimano. Nate and Eric from Shimano hosted the Shimano sponsored trip. They supplied 30+ lucannis and butterfly systems for everyone to use. The reds chewed well for us and we had a great time competing for big fish on each system. Thanks Shimano. Today the wind blew and we fished the south side of rosa. the fishing was scratchy but fair. We had to work hard for our catch. there is squid sign around and conditions look posative for seabass. Keep your fingers crossed. J.J.

03-01-2009 Good morning Apollo anglers. We just arrived from our last colnet 1.5 day. Once again we were blessed with great weather and fishing. Fishing was a bit tougher this week due to the emergence of squid on the bank however we were still able to capture some beautiful fish. Along with our catch of nice grade reds we came home with 34 lincod. It was a great way to end our colnet season. Tonight we leave for Santa Barbara where we will be spending the next two and a half months. We hope you all are doing well and we hope to see you soon. Drew.

Our jackpot fish was a 28lb. cow cod caught by Paul Girstis. It was a truly incredible sight to see come over the rail. We hope everyone has a great week and we hope to see you soon. Drew.

02-08-2009 Good morning anglers. We just arrived from yet another successful colnet day and a half. We had just enough of a weather window to get our trip in. Although a bit wet and bumpy to start the seas calmed throughout the day eventually rewarding us with some sunshine and a beautiful ride home. The fishing was great once again with limits style fishing on quality colnet rockfish and lincod. Hope to see you guys aboard soon, Drew.

Along with the beautiful weather we had limits of rock fish the majority of which were nice grade reds and 33 beautiful lincod. We were also able to pick up 4 yellowtail for our efforts. 01-25-2009 Good morning and happy new year.
We've been running day and a half trips down to colnet every weekend since the first of the year. The fishing and the weather have both been fantastic! This morning we returned to fisherman's landing with a beautiful catch of big reds and 20 nice lings as well as 2 quality colnet yellowtail. We will be running these trips through February. We are getting out with light loads (only 16 on this trip) so come down and enjoy a fun winter time fishing adventure with us. See you soon, J.J.
