Fishing Tackle Suggestions

The following lists of gear will assist you in planning your trip. A big part of the service we offer is to make sure our passengers are as prepared as possible, so give us a call at 619-482-6933 if you have any questions.

    Duffel Bag - For storage (don't bring hard sided luggage).

    Jacket - For cool nights and cooler days.

    Sneakers

    Rubber Boots - One pair of short, comfortable boots.

    Hat - Wide brim, baseball caps, etc.

    Sun Glasses - Polarized to cut the glare.

    Security strap to avoid loss.

    Sunscreen - Sweat-proof, waterproof, the broad spectrum type.

    Toiletries - Bath towel, shampoo, soap, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.

    Tools - Dykes, Duckbill pliers, holder and belt.

    Rod Belt - A personal choice as to what is most comfortable to you.

    SEA SICK MEDICATION & REMEDIES - Check with your Physician for preferred method of prevention (Transderm patches are back! These appear to be highly successful.) There are several over-the-counter products that are very effective. Your local Pharmacist would be another excellent source for recommendations.

    PERSONAL GEAR

    DUFFEL BAGS - For storage and for dirty laundry.

    CLOTHING - Bring a change for each day. Light material is best.

    SHIRTS- You may need 1 or 2 each day. If you're sun sensitive, long sleeves are in order. Light (nylon) fabric for quick drying and coolness in warm weather. Sweatshirts are handy for nights and cool weather.

    SOCKS- Yes! The more the better. At least a pair for each day.

    SHORTS- For those hot sultry summer days.

    JACKET For those cool fishing nights and cooler weather.

    SNEAKERS Bring 2 pair so you'll always have a dry spare.

    RUBBER BOOTS - one pair of short, comfortable boots.

    HAT - Wide brim, baseball caps, foreign legion or sunbuster. Think sun protection.

    LIGHT RAIN GEAR - Very seldom used, but appreciated when it rains.

    SUN GLASSES - Polarized to cut the glare. Security straps will prevent loss over the side.

    TOILETRIES - Bath towels, shampoo, soap, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.

    TOOLS - Dykes (cross cutting pliers) duck bill pliers, holder and belt, hook sharpener.

    ROD BELTS - A personal choice as to what is most comfortable for you. Brands: Ripoffs, Tanaguchi or Braid. There are several sizes and a wide price range. (Available for rent at Fisherman's Landing)

    HARNESS - Should be a kidney belt, or sit down type.

    RUBBER GLOVES - For handling your catch at the end of trip.

    CAMERA & FILM - Make sure you have a supply of film and batteries. Cordless video recorders are also welcome.

    ENTERTAINMENT - Use the travel time to catch up on that favorite book.

Your favorite saltwater tackle store can assist you in comparable products if you wish. If you are from out of the state of California, call us and we will recommend a tackle store to you. When deciding on lures, it is sometimes advisable to wait and consult the personal at Fisherman's Landing tackle store prior to your departure.

    Tackle Rental

    Tackle rental from Fisherman's Landing is available in different package combinations to suit the length and specific rod and reel requirements of your trip. You can be assured of excellent equipment that has been well maintained. For specific costs on rental gear, please ask our office for a Fisherman's Landing rental price list. Reservations for tackle rental must be made 30 days prior to trip by calling Fisherman's Landing (619) 221-8500. If you are bringing your own gear or purchasing new rods and reels, refer to our "Tackle Suggestions" for the length of trip you are interested in.
